This appointment will confirm the viability of the pregnancy, provide a date, a wellbeing check and form to keep with your notes, and confirm all the vital data that we can see at this stage.

boo baby’s early reassurance scan
Our early reassurance scan is designed to check the wellbeing of your baby and provide you with peace of mind from as early as 7 weeks gestation, through to 16 weeks. This is a trans-abdominal scan (on the belly), however if necessary, we are able to offer a trans-vaginal scan. Please note we do require you to be sure you are at least 7 weeks gestation before booking your appointment.
This scan does not replace any of your NHS scans, you must still attend your 12 week scan with the NHS.
Preparing for your reassurance scan
You can prepare for your early reassurance scan by ensuring that you are properly hydrated in the 24 hours before your appointment. Please arrive with a full bladder.
It is sometimes necessary during the earlier stages of pregnancy to offer an internal scan. This is because it can be difficult to see the foetus via the abdomen at this stage. Many factors influence this (including hydration). Please ensure you arrive for your scan with a full bladder. As with all of our scans, you have the right to stop the procedure at any time.
